A brief synopsis...

Claire and Solange are The Maids: sick to the gullet of being scuffed under the heels of their lady mistress. In a twisted evening of power-shifting role play, the two girls bite and scratch at one another in a vicious struggle to the top – a ritualistic tug-of-war which must finally end in silence or in sacrifice. A turbulent exploration of the games we play, this classic French play was written by Jean Genet, a controversial figure whose work was subsequently banned in Australia and elsewhere around the world. Considered by many to be his finest and most monstrous creations, Genet’s naughty maids allow him to aim the barrel at class, criminality, sex and power.

Set in a time of post-apocalyptic chaos, this Macbeth is rough, raw and unashamedly violent. The fight for food, land rights and survival is harsh and fierce. There is no law, allied agreements are drawn in the sand, loyalties can be bought and sold and you never know who to really trust....

... It's Macbeth - Raw and real. There will be blood: Blood will have blood...

I'm sitting in the Boulevard Motel in Wagga Wagga smelling country air and being reminded of family holidays.

I have a pretty wonderful job right now...

Since January I have been working with Shaman Productions. www.shamanproductions.com.au

I get to travel to places like Parkes, Bathurst, Gunnedah... and perform shows about poetry to hundreds of high school kids...

Not only do I get to enjoy the buzz you get when you perform poetry and the delicious, language of Shakespeare, Wilfred Owen and even Jonathan Swift - I also get to bring it to young people all over the state.

I think it's one of the greatest joys I have in being an actor - the way you can make a difference to another human being. One recognisable look, phrase, or movement and people are sent back in time - whether it be seconds or years - to memories and experiences; Or they a brought to tears, or they laugh with recognition and that wonderful comforting feeling that you get when someone else understands or truly 'gets you'.

Seeing August: Osage County by Steppenwolf Theatre Company on Wednesday at STC was like that for me... a wonderful play filled with humanity: it's vibrancy and it's ugliness.

Right now what captures me is the smell of woodfires, cloudy skies and country air... I feel so peaceful here and a great sense of being home.

I think where you grow up really influences you. Jenny, another Shamanite, grew up in the US for a while and feels at home with winter days and lots of snow around.

For me it will always be gum trees, red earth, long car drives, endless fresh air and dry summers... I love my Dad for taking us travelling on all the 'back roads' of country NSW, for showing me the salt lakes and the Warrumbungle mountains...

A haunting mystery of love, loss and rowan berries.

With Mary Rose, the author of Peter Pan, JM Barrie, looks with wry humour, at the love and loss of the parents who are left behind.

Directed for the Factory Space by Roz Riley, this production uses a multimedia approach to add a visual dimension to the wonderful prose and engrossing story built around the Celtic mythology of the mother-goddess, the protective rowan tree and the angry, jealous fir. The call to Heaven or to Hell is here an original composition by Russell FitzGibbon. Rooms smile, devils chuckle and appearances all too easily, deceive…

“The enduring appeal of Mary Rose is its capacity to place the supernatural beside the natural, using each to appeal to us to escape the oppressive logic of modern times. Even time and death, Barrie suggests, can be defeated. Part of the play’s ghostly power is Barrie’s own obsession with what happens after life ends. ‘He’s fascinated with the idea that you can tamper with life, stop it, rewind, and start again.
